• Khanty-Mansiy, home to more than 1.7 million people, saw the highest average temperature anomaly — 6°C above the 1991-2020 normal.

Days with unusual heat made twice as likely by climate change

• More than 4.5 million Russians across three states experienced daily average temperatures that were strongly influenced by climate change (defined as CSI 2 or higher) for at least one-third of the season (30 or more days).

Cities experiencing the most heat

• The city of Khanty-Mansiysk, home to more than 100,000 people, saw the highest average temperature anomaly - 5.9°C above the 1991-2020 normal.
