This website tracks daily temperature records (highest maximum and lowest minimum) set at 247 stations across the U.S. using data from NOAA's Applied Climate Information System (ACIS). Climate Central queries temperature data for each station's entire period of record twice a day in an effort to provide the most accurate and up-to-date information. However, reporting delays can occur, ranging from hours to days — or longer in rare cases — depending on when stations report their data to ACIS.

While Climate Central's analysis is limited to specific U.S. cities, a more comprehensive assessment of national and global daily records can be found on NCEI's Daily Weather Records website.
